The Mediator Blog
“If I have learned anything in life, it is that we are to keep moving, keep trying—as long as we breathe!"
-Spencer W. Kimball
My name is Justin LaBar. As you can see below, my wife and I have nine children. We are actually expecting #10 in June and are looking forward to adding her to our family. We call North Dakota our home. I'm native to the state, but my wife is originally from Utah. I'm a 4th grade school teacher. I also drive bus, work a simple side job in the oil field, and am active in politics.
We are imperfect members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together with my role as husband and father, some of my greatest joy comes from service in the church. Over the years, I have served in a number of callings-- Youth Sunday School Teacher, Primary Teacher, Elder's Quorum President, Young Men's President, Branch President, Bishop, and now Elder's Quorum Secretary and Stake Auditor.
I served for two years as a full-time missionary from 1998-2000 in the Canada Toronto West Mission. It was truly one of the great periods of my life. I treasure those moments and still draw from the well of experiences that I gained there.
My purpose in starting this blog is a selfish one. My two oldest children are now in their first year of college. My hope is that this will provide a means whereby they can stay connected with me. I also enjoy writing and oftentimes find gospel related topics in the news or discussed at church that I think it would be fun to write about.
Where this blog will go, I have no idea. But I think it's time to put it together and find out. To start, I'll likely post on Sundays only, but don't hold me to it.
